New App Finds Funding for Drinking Water Source Protection Projects

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (USEPA) has a new tool to help users navigate and leverage funding opportunities for projects that protect drinking water sources. The Funding Integration Tool for Source Water (FITS) shares information about 11 Federal funding options.

The following entities could benefit from utilizing FITS:

  • States
  • Tribes
  • Territories
  • Federal agencies
  • Watershed stakeholders
  • Drinking water utilities
  • Users engaged with activities that protect sources of drinking water

FITS users may navigate between source water protection funding sources, planning and funding coordination information, and examples of funding sources in action, to inspire their own source water protection activities. The USEPA says FITS provides tips for long-term cross-program planning and includes examples of how the funding sources have provided a benefit to projects in the past.

For additional information about FITS, access the USEPA’s Source Water Protection website.
